Important information about ongoing opportunities at Nudgee International College

On Thursday 17 November 2011, the operating body of Nudgee International College, Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA), advised that it had made the difficult decision to manage the orderly closure of Nudgee International College.

It is EREA's intention that the College will continue to operate into the coming year to allow our current commitments to students and staff, as well as all current financial obligations, to be honoured. However, as a result of this announcement, from this point forward, Nudgee International College is unable to accept any new student enrolments. Study tours scheduled to arrive up to the end of April 2012 will continue as usual.

Please find below a statement from EREA which provides further information regarding the announcement. If you have any further questions, please contact Acting CEO of Nudgee International College, Mr Barry Clifford on +61 7 3865 0734.

Statement from Jim King, Regional Administrator - Northern
Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA)

"I regret to advise that, as a result of current conditions within the international education market, and after considering the potential impact of these on Nudgee International College, the difficult decision has been made to cease new student enrolments at the College and to wind up all operations within the coming year," Mr King said.

"While this has not been an easy decision to make, it is has resulted from the growing decline in recent years of international secondary student enrolment numbers, due to external factors out of the College's control."

"We are fully aware of the significant impact this decision will have on students, staff and other College partners, and it is our intention to honour all financial obligations and the current commitments we have with students and staff."

"We are also determined the student learning process will not impacted while we work towards the orderly closure of the College. In order to achieve this, we have established a taskforce comprising representatives of both EREA and Nudgee International College staff to help manage this process. We see this taskforce as being critical in ensuring our current students' education opportunities are not disadvantaged as a result of the closure."

"Despite this difficult but necessary decision, we have the ongoing interests of students and staff at heart and will keep all our partners fully informed as we progress with the unfortunate closure of Nudgee International College."

"Everyone who has been associated with Nudgee International since its establishment in 1996 should be very proud of the work they have done at the College and the wonderful outcomes they have achieved for all students."
