Golf Academy at Nudgee International College (NGA)

The Nudgee College Golf Academy offers International Students the opportunity to study English, attend selected High Schools and learn golf with a registered PGA coach at the same time. The NGA program offers students of golf the opportunity to be coached at an elite level improving their overall game by using the latest teaching aids and computer swing analysis equipment together with a program developed by the coach for each individual.

Students who have a passion for golf and wish to study English at Nudgee International College.

Entry Requirements:

Courses are only available to full time students enrolling in High School Preparation Courses at Nudgee International College

Accommodation:

• Students who are 12 years or older can live in a homestay organized by Nudgee International College

Why study at Nudgee International College’s NGA Golf Program?

• 16 hours golf coaching with Chris Chaplin and/or other AAA accredited Australian PGA Professionals.
• Coaching covers all aspects of the game, swing, chipping, pitching, putting, bunker play and on course management and strategy. Latest teaching aids and computer swing analysis equipment used in the lessons.
• Maximum 8 students per coach
• Nudgee Golf Club Membership 36 hole facility
• Australian Golf Union handicap
• Unlimited range balls
• Transport to Nudgee Golf Club and return to NIC six days a week
• Golf at different courses around Brisbane
• Regular golf competitions and for elite players play in the Queensland, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast Amateur Championships, Queensland Schoolboys and Girls Championships and the Gary Player Junior Classic. Transport will be provided for the selected competitions and students will be assisted with the entry forms. Tournament entry fees are not included and students will be responsible for the cost
• NGA Golf Academy shirts and cap. Students will be expected to wear the uniform when rounding and playing competitions. Only long term students will be provided with the uniform
• Detailed progress report on students’ performance each term

• Lecturer on teaching golf for the University of New England Queensland 2002
• Head Coach NIC Golf Program 2002 – present
• Teaching article contributor for Australia Golf magazine 2002
• Played in local and Australasian PGA tour events 1980 – 1993
• Presenter at Hong Kong PGA coaching conference 2004
• Head Presenter Hong Kong PGA coaching conference 2005
• Coached in China in 2004 and 2005 helping Chinese PGA and LPGA players and coaches assisting in the development of their skills
• Coached and currently coaching LPGA and PGA players from Australia and Europe
• Coach of Scott Hend, US PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour. Scott Hend was number two in driving distance in 2004 and number one in 2005. Chris has coached Scott Hend since 2001 and has been an integral part of Scott’s success and visits the US regularly to coach Scott and watch him play tour events.

Coaching Philosophy

• To establish the same common fundamental techniques found in great players in all his students.
• The fitter and stronger the body the better the player.
• Practice must be correct and constructive as there are many golfers that practice and get worse.
• You do not buy or get a golf game, you build one over time and then you maintain it to create consistency and confidence.
• The golfing champion has a trained golf brain as well as a trained golf technique and two perfect models are Tiger Woods and Anika Sorenstan.
